Coollattin House, former home of the Earls Fitzwilliam will open its doors to the public by kind permission of Coollattin Golf Club for this very special celebration of Irish Heritage which charts the experiences of those families (c. 6,000 people) who left the Coollattin Estate for a new life in Canada during the Assisted Clearances of 1847-1856.
His Excellency Mr Loyola Hearn, Canadian Ambassador to Ireland, will launch this weekend long heritage event at an evening reception on Friday 13th September 2013. Planned weekend activities include heritage talks and tours of Coollattin House, displays/exhibitions, golf tournament, banquet, traditional music, artisan food and craft fair all in the historic surroundings of Coollattin House & Golf Club.
